To get started, applicants must first complete the College Admission Requirements. Once completed, applicants are officially accepted to CVTC and placed on the program waiting list, if applicable. An applicant’s program eligibility date is the date their completed application is received. If necessary, the application time will also be used to determine placement priority.
Before beginning core program classes, all Academic Preparedness Requirements must also be completed as outlined below. When all Academic Preparedness Requirements are met and space is available in the core program, applicants are eligible to register for core Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (508-level) courses.
College Admission Requirements
- Submit an application for admission at cvtc.edu/apply
- Pay the one-time $30 applicaiton processing fee
Program Academic Preparedness Requirements
Verify Dental Assistant certification and/or work experience following one of the outlined options below:
- Submit a copy of your current Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification and proof of 1,000 hours of Dental Assistant work experience within the last 5 years. Proof of work experience must show the number of hours worked, dates of employment, be signed by the office personnel or dentist verifying employment and be on company letterhead or include company logo.
OR
- Submit proof of 2,000 hours of Dental Assistant work experience within the last 5 years. Proof of work experience must show the number of hours worked, dates of employment, be signed by the office personnel or dentist verifying the employment, and be on company letterhead or include company logo.
Submit documentation to the Admissions Office at admissionsmail@cvtc.edu.
Once all the above items have been completed, you will be considered for enrollment based on current openings in the program. Your original application date and time will be used to determine placement into the program openings.
Additional Information
- Background Check History: This program prepares students for licensure or certification upon completion. A criminal background history may impact eligibility for licensure or certification. If you have questions or concerns related to current and/or past charges or convictions, please contact your Academic Advisor at 715-833-6346 for more information.
- Financial Aid – This certificate is not eligible for financial aid consideration.
- Transfer Credit/Credit for Prior Learning - Students who have graduated from a Dental Assistant program may be eligible for transfer credit or credit for prior learning options. Students with prior college credit should submit an official transcript to the Admissions Office at admissionsmail@cvtc.edu for evaluation and possible transfer credit.
- Recommendation – It is recommended that you are currently employed at a dental office while enrolled to be able to complete the clinical course. If you are not currently employed in a dental office, reach out to our advisement office at 715-833-6346 to discuss alternative clinical options.
*Official transcripts must be submitted directly to CVTC from the educational institution by USPS mail or other recognized mail service providers in a sealed envelope or from a digital credential service (i.e., Parchment) approved by CVTC.
