469-302 Gas Utility Field Training 1 5 469-315 or concurrent In this course we will begin our look at the construction equipment safety and operation (shovel, trenching, plowing, mini-ex digging, backhoe, boring), equipment maintenance, gas safety and vehicular safety. We will begin our learning about backfilling and restoration after a project. We will begin our learning about fusing plastic pipe to create leak free joints using butt fusion and introducing socket fusion. We will introduce industry standard Computer Based training and testing as a class.

Natural gas line installation and standards for plastic pressure testing, fusion, leak detection procedures, general installation procedures and repair of plastic mains and services, as well as mapping GIS systems. We will begin our look at pressure regulation. We will learn about the process and procedures for pipe stoppage in various scenarios. We will learn gas metering. We will introduce the importance of customer service in the Propane and Natural Gas industries. We will begin our look at residential house piping and continue our look at pressure regulation for both Natural Gas and Propane. We will introduce the industry standard Computer CETP training and testing.

We will focus on Cathodic Protection systems including rectifiers and how we use electricity to protect metal pipes both in the ground and above ground from leaks caused by corrosion.

We will be using industry standard online learning and testing as well as hands-on learning opportunities. We will continue our computer-based training and testing as practiced in the industry.
