HS Academy Application & Approval Process

How it works

The CVTC high school academy application and approval process contains the following steps:

  1. Wisconsin K12 high school students will apply for a CVTC high school academy using the CVTC high school academy webpage.
    • Students will look for the academy they want to apply for by term, academy name and status.
      • If the academy is listed as upcoming, it means it has not been opened up for students to register and students can not register at this time.
      • If the academy says open, the students can apply for the academy.
      • If the academy is listed as full, it means at this time there are no seats in the academy. The student can apply for the waitlist and wait to see if a seat opens.
      • If the academy says closed, it means the academy was offered in a previous term and is no longer available for students.
  2. Once the student applies for an academy, an email will be sent to the WI K12 school district to approve or deny the CVTC high school academy applications.
  3. CVTC K12 Relations team will receive the WI K12 high school students online application.
    • Online applications are all date stamped based on when the student applied and CVTC K12 Relations team uses this date to determine when the student applied for the academy
  4. Wisconsin K12 school district sends an email to the high school academy email: hsacademies@cvtc.edu either approving or denying a student’s high school academy application.
    • If the high school academy application is approved by the WI K12 School District, CVTC K12 Relations team will follow these steps:
    • The student’s application will be marked as approved by their high school.
    • CVTC K12 Relations team will verify any prerequisites required for the high school academy that the WI K12 high school student applied for.
      • If there are no prerequisites, the student will be approved for the high school academy.
      • If there are prerequisites, CVTC K12 Relations team will request the student’s high school transcripts and/or ACT scores from the high school along with any other information required to verify that prerequisites are met.
        • If the prerequisites are met, the student will be approved for the high school academy.
        • If the prerequisites are not met, the student will not be approved for the high school academy
  5. High school academy students will be notified if they were approved or denied for the high school academy via email. The email will inform them of when they can expect to hear from the K12 Relations team regarding an orientation session for their academy.
  6. A month or so prior to the high school academy start date, the student will receive a letter in the mail from the K12 Relations team, welcoming them to the high school academy. The letter will provide the student with information about the high school orientation, how to set up their CVTC account, and detailed information of when the academy starts.
