CVTC, UW-Stout expand transfer opportunities

Two college presidents sign transfer agreements

Dr. Sunem Beaton-Garcia, president of Chippewa Valley Technical College, left, and Dr. Katherine Frank, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–Stout, sign agreements that will make it easier for students to transfer from CVTC to UW-Stout.

Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) and the University of Wisconsin-Stout strengthened their longstanding partnership by signing a series of new articulation agreements during CVTC’s Reaffirmation Day, Thursday.

These agreements create transfer pathways for students in seven CVTC programs to pursue bachelor’s degrees at UW-Stout.

The newly signed agreements include pathways from the following CVTC programs to UW-Stout’s Bachelor of Science in Biology:

  • CVTC A.A.S. Dental Hygienist → UW–Stout B.S. Biology
  • CVTC Practical Nursing (LPN) → UW–Stout B.S. Biology
  • CVTC A.A.S. Medical Laboratory Technician → UW–Stout B.S. Biology
  • CVTC A.A.S. Diagnostic Medical Sonography → UW–Stout B.S. Biology
  • CVTC A.A.S. Physical Therapist Assistant → UW–Stout B.S. Biology
  • WTCS Statewide A.D.N. Nursing → UW–Stout B.S. Biology

In addition, students completing the CVTC Associate of Science degree now have a direct transfer pathway into UW-Stout’s Bachelor of Science in Dietetics.

“These agreements were put in place to provide continued options for students who want to pursue a BS in Biology across several program areas,” said Brian Gunderson, CVTC articulation & curriculum coordinator. “The degree opens doors for graduates to enter the workforce in a variety of fields or continue their education toward careers in medicine, dentistry, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other health-related professions. It’s another on-ramp for our students to advance their studies or their careers.”

Gunderson added that the new AS-to-Dietetics pathway addresses a critical workforce need.

“The agreement provides a needed pathway to in-demand jobs in nutrition,” he said. “It expands options for our Associate of Science students and supports the workforce needs of our communities.”

CVTC’s Reaffirmation Day celebrates the College’s ongoing commitment to building strong transfer partnerships that create flexible, affordable, and accessible educational opportunities. The new agreements reinforce that commitment by ensuring students have additional avenues to reach their academic and professional goals.
