Governor appoints CVTC student to WTCS board
Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) Business Management student and Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Student Ambassador Eli Guthrie has been appointed by Gov. Tony Evers to serve as the student representative on the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.
Guthrie’s appointment places him among state leaders shaping the future of Wisconsin’s technical education system, which serves hundreds of thousands of students annually through its 16 technical colleges.
“As a Business Management student at CVTC, I’ve seen firsthand how technical colleges can change lives and strengthen our communities,” said Guthrie, who attends CVTC in River Falls. “I am excited to contribute to the growth of our technical college system, grateful for this opportunity, and proud to serve and represent my peers.”
Guthrie said he chose to attend CVTC because it offers the flexibility and support he needed to balance full-time work with his education.
“CVTC was the right step for me both logistically and financially. The smaller environment has allowed me to build meaningful connections while gaining real-world experiences that will help me excel in my career. The support I’ve been given by instructors and faculty has been unmatched.”
Through his studies, Guthrie said he has developed practical skills he applies daily, along with a strong network of peers and professionals.
As a member of the WTCS Board, Guthrie will help guide policy and decision-making for Wisconsin’s technical colleges, ensuring that students’ voices remain central to the state’s workforce development efforts.
