Designed for frontline supervisors to gain basic HR knowledge or emerging leaders with limited knowledge in HR, this series focuses on the people management and organizational culture of your business. These can be taken independently for individual development needs or as a series.

This eight-class series focuses on the following:

1. Examine Goals of HR ManagementIdentify and understand laws that address workplace discrimination, harassment and other situations and embrace strategies to prevent illegal behavior in the workplace.

2. Diversity & InclusionExplore foundational concepts of diversity, inclusion, equity and supervisory sensitivity to diverse employee populations. Summarize the impact and opportunity of diversity on organizations.

3. Making Informed DecisionsUnderstanding job analysis methods through detailed observation and critical examination of the sequential activities, tools and equipment required, conditions of work, and the qualifications needed for an individual to perform the job successfully. Explore and practice creating complete and accurate job descriptions.

4. Employee SelectionUnderstanding how to add value to the recruitment and selection process including leveraging internal recruiting sources and effective interview techniques.

5. Pay & BenefitsUnderstanding how total reward strategies keep employees engaged. Applying various Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requirements to various workplace scenarios.

6. Performance ManagementDescribe the purposes of performance appraisal process in organizations. Explore ways to utilize performance appraisal to help with employee career management and engagement. Become comfortable with typical disciplinary issues and various disciplinary processes.

7. Training & DevelopmentDiscuss how training and development may help improve employee performance and build or enhance your succession planning process. Illustrate how job redesign and the job characteristics approach may enhance employee performance. Explain how alternative work arrangements may motivate employees.

8. Organizational CultureExplore organizational culture by examining how different types of organizational designs and cultures impact their success and understand how you can influence this.
