Is CVTC’s Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (HVACR) program right for you? Let’s take a look at what you can expect and the opportunities available to you.

You Can Succeed

Would you like to be a home or business owner’s hero, showing up to save the day when heating or cooling systems fail? Do you like to have a lot of variety in your workday and the challenge of solving problems? Technicians who respond to problems with a building’s mechanical systems find that every day is different, and not just because of the variety of technical problems they encounter. They are people with good communication skills who enjoy their daily interaction with the customers they are sent to help.

Skilled HVACR technicians are intuitive people with good analytical skills that help them troubleshoot problems and arrive at solutions. Working with their minds as well as their hands and seeing positive results from their labors makes their work very rewarding.

If you are ready to use all of your skills in a career that’s both personally and financially rewarding, you can find success through CVTC’s Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration program.

Opportunities Abound

Graduates of CVTC’s Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration program find careers in the HVACR field, which involves a broad range of options in the maintenance, construction, design and inventory areas. Possible career paths include:

  • A warehouse worker to a counter person to a customer service representative
  • A service technician to a service manager
  • An installer to a foreman to a job superintendent
  • An entry-level CAD operator to a designer of HVACR systems

You’ll be in Demand

Graduates of CVTC’s Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration program are working all over the area in the horticulture industry. Employers seek them out. “We hire CVTC graduates on many levels,” said Mark Franson of Bartingale Mechanical in Eau Claire. “They work as estimators, project managers, service technicians, controls technicians, and plumbers and pipe fitters. We like to hire CVTC graduates, who are highly trainable when they come out of school and are typically determined and focused on a career. CVTC graduates are mature and understand a work ethic. Many on our staff are CVTC graduates; it’s kind of like a brotherhood.”
