CVTC acquires new drone through donation

Maverick Drone Systems, a collaborative partner with Chippewa Valley Technical College in its drone training certificate program, has donated a professional-style drone to help students learn and develop their skills.
“I was honored when Adam Shaw with Maverick Drone Systems informed me of his intention to help support the growth of our training efforts,” said Shawn Creviston, CVTC drone certificate program instructor. “Maverick Drone Systems has helped supply CVTC with equipment purchases of the past five years and has supported the development of the program through advisory meetings and individual conversations related to the growth of the UAV Industry, trends, challenges and skills that remote pilots need.”
The base DJI T30 drone, valued at nearly $17,000, will allow CVTC students to work with larger equipment related to aircraft maintenance, design and functionality, Creviston said. CVTC will be able to integrate its use into more areas of its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) training courses.
Adam Wehling, CVTC dean of agriculture, energy and transportation, said CVTC continued to lead drone training efforts in the state.
“Multiple industries, including agriculture, construction, business and emergency services rely heavily upon this new technology and trained pilots,” he said. “We rely on our continued partnerships with businesses, local organizations, and advisory committee members for access to the latest technology, applications, and software, to name a few. We’re thankful for the incredible donation to help students succeed.”
