During the apprenticeship, you’ll learn:
- General Anatomy & Physiology
- Emergency Resuscitation Techniques
- EMS Operations
- Pre-Hospital Pharmacology
- Patient Assessment Principles
- Advanced Life Support Skills for Pre-Hospital Care
As an apprentice, you’ll gain valuable, hands-on experience applying what you learn in the classroom directly to real-world situations. Upon completion, you’ll be eligible for national certification and Wisconsin licensure as an EMT-Paramedic, setting you up for a successful career on the frontlines of emergency medical care.
Working Conditions
The role involves variable shifts of up to 24 hours, both indoors and outdoors. It’s physically and mentally demanding, often in high-pressure situations that may involve life-or-death decisions. You’ll be prepared to handle emergencies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, where every moment counts.
Training
- 2,100 hours of school and work processes
- 756 hours of clinical practicum
Application Requirements
- Completion of EMT I and II or valid WI EMT license
- Gen A&P with minimum grade of “C”
- Physical exam
- Criminal background check.
