WAT Grants

Area businesses have the opportunity to upgrade the skills and productivity of their employees through training programs funded in part by the State of Wisconsin Workforce Advancement Training (WAT) grants.

Purpose of WAT Grant

Purpose of WAT Grants

Anticipated WAT grants would be awarded to promote increased investment in the development of incumbent workers, improve Wisconsin businesses’ productivity and competitiveness, augment the state’s economic base, and expand technical college training services to businesses and industry. Grants would be awarded to upgrade the skills and productivity of employees of established businesses operating in Wisconsin, with the broader objective of supporting regional workforce and economic development efforts. Training under these grants must focus on occupational skills but can include a combination of occupational, academic, and employability topics or courses.

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Abstract 5%
  • Need 25%
  • Training Plan 30%
  • Outcomes and Evaluation 30%
  • Budget 15%

Projects that would accomplish one or more of the following will receive special consideration:

  • Increase employees’ wages in the short term
  • Improve employees’ job and career opportunities in the short term
  • Implement activities related to career pathways and bridge programs as defined under the RISE initiative
  • Implement part of a formal regional development strategy planned by an industry partnership
  • Strengthen the position of the state’s driver industries.

PLEASE NOTE: Submission of this Request for Consideration does NOT constitute acceptance or approval for grant funds. The Requests for Consideration will be judged on all the merits required of the grant and in an effort to best represent the needs, geographic and otherwise, of the entire Chippewa Valley Technical College District. Companies chosen to partner with Chippewa Valley Technical College will NOT receive training funds unless their particular grant is approved by the Wisconsin Technical College System grant committee.
